Paris Mosquee

Paris's central mosquee, whose entrance is on the building's west side next to the square minaret, was partly modeled after the Alhambra in Granada (Spain) and built between 1922 and 1926 in an ornate Hispano-Moorish style.

In the islamic tradition the two serene courtyards are elaboratly decorated with verses from the Koran and coloured tiles in geometrical designs.

Shoes must be removed at the entrance to the prayer hall. There are guided tours (15FF) from 9AM to 6PM. visitors must be modestly and respectfully dressed.

The mosquee complex includes a tea room and a "hammam" (bathhouse).
