- On the borders of Burgundy and Champagne, the small fortified
town of St-Florentin welcomes you. The old town with its
magnificient and imposing Renaissance church is well worth a visit.
- In Tonnerre, Knight-of-Eon country, a short walk will
bring you to the Fosse Dione, a beautiful wash house
fed by vauclusian srping, and thence to the Vieil Hopital
( the old hospital ) founded by Margaret of Burgundy in 1293.
- The 16th-century castels : Tanlay, built in 1550, will
open its gates to you. Ancy-Le-Franc offers you a lavishly
decorated castle; a masterpiece of French architecture. Here you
will also be able to visit a museum of cars and carriages.
- In Montbard, an old 12th-century stronghold, you will
follow in the footsteps of Buffon, the great 18th-century naturalist,
by visiting his park and laboratory.
We recommend you going
by bicycle, as 6km away you will discover the ancient Abbaye de
Fontenay, a superb 12th-century cisterian monastery founded
by St-Bernard. Classed as a World heritage site, this masterpiece
of Roman art is well worth a visit.

- The steep rocks and cliffs of Saussois will delight
both mountain clibing fanatics and those in search of a
panoramic view.
- A must : Chatel-Censoir, a picturesque terraced
town built on the hillside.
- In Clamecy, birthplace of Romain Roland, a walk
along the quayside, will give you a magnigicent impression
of the town and its ramparts. In the museum you will see
the ancient craft of wood rafting.

streets, art lovers will enjoy a visit to the
two ghotic churches.
- Villeneuve-sur-Yonne, an ancient city founded

cathedral to be constructed in Frace as well as the
fabulous museums, the treasures of which include mosaics
from the gallo-Roman period...
